Shopping for home accessories is not exactly hard but it can be confusing sometimes. This is because the market simply presents us with too many options to choose from. Just imagine this:

You are about to get yourself a lampshade. As you scan the store, you will find that there will not only be one or two items on the shelves. You are more likely to see tens if not hundreds of them. Upon seeing too many choices, you start thinking of questions like which material is best? How tall or how short should your lampshade be? And with that much factors to consider, you might end up spending a lot of your time in that shop.

As such, it is important that before one even attempts to buy some accessories for the home, they should at least have a clear theme to work on. After all, in interior decorating, the theme is the be all and end all of everything. It is not only the basis of picking furniture and home accessories, but it is also the reflection of the homeowner’s personality and it is the factor that singles out one home from the rest.
To illustrate further, let us take on a new project. Let’s say after having a contemporary theme in your home for years, you are now ready for it to appear more rustic and more “homey” than usual. When you say “homey” the theme that will automatically come into anyone’s mind would be – Rustic French.

So, if you are ready to give your home a make – over, here are some tips to help you get started.

1.Play with colors that are in the shades of brown, red and orange. These colors will set the mood and provide the warm and cozy atmosphere that you wish to achieve in your room.

2.For the accessories, you can either go for the usual dark tint of wood or if you want more artistic and versatile pieces, you can always go for wrought iron décor.
wrought iron wall plaque is best because the contrast of this heavy metal on warm colors is just absolutely exquisite. Apart from that, pieces made of wrought iron are also versatile. If you have gotten tired of the Rustic French theme, you can always use them again with a different concept by painting it and giving it a new look.

3.Pay particular attention to draperies. If you have noticed, Rustic French architecture is mostly defined by large windows. As such, appropriate draperies are important not only for protection from the sunlight but for added privacy as well. So even if you do not have huge windows, you can try playing with fabrics of different textures and thickness. To achieve coherence, you may also want to change your beams to those that are made of wrought iron.

Those are just the basics, of course you can accentuate your home further by choosing frames, candle holders and sconces that go well with your theme. Remember a little creativity can take you a long way.
