The main executable of this application is called Excel.exe, whose proper functioning is quite mandatory to keep the spreadsheets far from any problems like corruption.

The improper termination of the file, when any important file is opened, results into the wired corruption instances. In this regard several error messages may be encountered like:

“EXCEL.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created.”

After the error message, the application gets terminated unexpectedly. This can even result when editing some of the imported data in the spreadsheet.

To fix the issue, you can try editing the registry. But this should be done carefully and only after you take a backup of the registry. You need to delete the Excel folder and keys under /Microsoft office/office.
